Obituary for Mr. Peter Bennett Mr. Peter “Dukie” Bennett Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Peter “Dukie” Bennett, 73, who entered eternal rest, Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be in St. James Baptist Church Cemetery in Waxia, LA. Pastor Patrick Lavergne will officiate the service. Mr. Bennett is survived by his daughter, Shonda Bennett Turner (Joseph, Sr.) of Monroe, LA; two brothers, Albert Hardy, Sr. of Palmetto, LA and Charles K. Bennett of Newport News VA; seven sisters, Grace Hill of San Antonio, TX, Easter Toussaint (Herman) of Palmetto, LA, Gloria Lazard (Peter) of Baytown, TX, Janice Mason of Washington, LA, Lillie Thomas (Edgar) of Houston, TX, Rose Johnnie (Patrick) of Lafayette, LA and Lora Whitmill (Michael) of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Aiden P. Turner and Joseph J. Turner and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by Peter Bennett, Sr. and Marjorie Harris Bennett; two sisters, Betty Bennett and Lovenia Bennett; two brothers, Lawrence Bennett and Arthur Bennett. Visiting hours will be observed from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, November 12, 2021 at Williams Funeral Home. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Greater Shiloh Baptist Church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
