Obituary for Mr. Merrick Semien
Mr. Merrick Semien
On Sunday, January 16, 2022, Merrick Semien entered eternal rest. On July 7, 1937 the Lord blessed Abra and Lillian Simien with Merrick Semien. He grew up in Mallet, LA with his parents and siblings and attended St. Ann Catholic Church at an early age. He had a great passion for being an auto mechanic, traveling ad spending time with his children and grandchildren. He worked several years offshore. He was welcoming to all he met, he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mallet, LA.
Interment will be in St. Ann Catholic Church Cemetery.
Merrick leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife Ora D. Semien; nine daughters, Lynette Sam of Houston, TX, Karen (Terrance) Johnson of Haymarket, VA, Mary Stephanie Richard, Queen (Joseph) Babineaux both of Opelousas, LA, Linda Frank of Crowley, LA, Brenda Simien of Lafayette, LA and Oct'avia'a A. Serille-Saddler(Barry) of Fort Worth, TX; seven sons, Malcolm (Corina) Simien of Fredericksburg, VA, Merrick Simien Jr., Joseph Simien, Winston Simien, John (Felicia) Simien all of Opelousas, LA, Patrick (Vicki) of Washington, DC and Daniel Simien of Carencro, LA; two sisters, Gladys Simien and Marjorie (Hayward Sr.) Labbe' both of Lake Charles, LA; three brothers, Emmerick (Brenda) Simien, Albert Simien and Lawrence (Mearline) Simien all of Lake Charles, LA; a brother-in-law, Felton (Maxie) Sam Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Simien of Lake Charles, LA and Mary Lee Sam of Opelousas, LA; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Abra and Lillian Simien; a son, Steven A. Simien; three brothers, Wilbert Simien, Abraham Simien and Hebert Simien; two sisters, Irene Simien Alex and Mathilda Simien Gobert.
Visiting hours will be observed from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Williams Funeral Home.
