      Obituary for Mr. Johnell Hayes
      Mr. Johnell “Kye” Hayes
      Johnell “Kye” Hayes, a resident of Houston, Texas was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 3, 1954 to the late Viola Simon Hayes Green and Nathan Hayes. He was raised in the village of Palmetto, Louisiana until he married Lucille Dawkins and they relocated to Houston, Texas.
      Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Palmetto, LA. Interment will be in St. John Baptist Cemetery in the community of Bolden. Rev. Johnny Offord will officiate the service.
      To this union a daughter was born, Johnetta. Johnell was a heavy equipment operator and dredge boat captain for thirty plus years until his retirement. Mourning his memories are his wife, Lucille Hayes of Houston, TX; a daughter, Johnetta Hayes and two beloved grandchildren, Khole and Zoie Perry of Baltimore, Maryland; three sisters, Debbie Thornton, Katherine Smith both of Palmetto, Louisiana and Janice Hayes Semien (John) of Orange, Texas; five brothers, Joe Nathan Hayes (Denise) of Beaumont, Texas, James “Free” Green (Sandra) of Palmetto, Louisiana, Troy Hayes, Roy Hayes both of Orange, Texas and Mark Hayes of The Woodlands, Texas; two aunts, Clara Washington of Palmetto, LA and Edna Gordon of Lafayette, LA. He also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
      He is proceeded in death by his mother, Viola Simon Hayes Green; father, Nathan Hayes; a brother, Gregory Hayes; a sister, Brenda Green Tanner; maternal grandparents, Freeman Simon and Josephine Rocio Simon; paternal grandparents, Saul Hayes and Camella Hayes.
      Visiting hours will be observed from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. Matthews Baptist Church in Palmetto, LA.
