Bryla Kristina Lewis
Our beloved Bryla Kristina "BB" Lewis was born on August 31, 1997, in Houston, TX, to the late Charlotte Denise White and to Percy John Lewis. She graduated from Elkins High School in
Missouri City, TX, in 2015 and from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and a minor in Early Childhood Education. She was a health-care
coordinator for United Healthcare with aspirations of progressing within the company and
someday attaining a law degree.
She was a loving and devoted daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, goddaughter, titi,
godmother, cousin, and friend. Aside from listening to music or being spellbound by a movie,
Bryla's greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends over food, great
conversation, and ever-flowing laughter. When she entered a room, her infectious smile emitted
joy inside the hearts of everyone fortunate to be nearby. Small but mighty, Ms. BB lived life to the fullest and touched the hearts of countless people from all walks of life. She knew no strangers!
At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and is now among the
angels singing and dancing in God's care. Even though her time on this side was brief, she finished her course and has received her crown of righteousness in heaven.
Out of her mother she came, born as we all are born. And she returns to the
mother, who eventually embraces us all. To dissolve in the earth and be with

On October 5, 2022, our dearly beloved was summoned from this life to her eternal home in
heaven. She is also preceded in death by her grandfather Johnny White; her uncle, John
Christopher White; and her niece, Baileigh Denise Morris.
She leaves fond memories in the hearts of her cherished loved ones: Her grandmothers, Nancy White and Priscilla Lewis; grandfather, Rodney Lewis; brothers, Brock Lamar Lewis and Bryce John Lewis; sisters, Brooke Kiera Morris, Bryanna White, and Lola Lewis; aunts, Joan Yvette Mercadel (Allison) and Stephanie Sam (Eric); uncles, Edward Darby (Susan) and Shawn Lewis (Dorie); godparents, Roderick J. Darby and Tonya L. Darby; nieces, Savannah White and Juliana Morris; nephews, Jibril Morris and Brock Lewis, Jr.; goddaughter, Zoey Chastain; first cousins, Alyssa Mayfield, Ryan Darby, Ashley Mercadel, Mariah Lewis, Jordan Darby, Erean Sam, Nicholas Darby, Alexander Mercadel, Alexis Lewis, Eric Sam Jr., and Kaitlyn Darby; close cousins, Treyvon Thomas, Khari Darby, Royce Younger, and Tristyn Younger; special friends, Madison Bonton, Carlos Collins, Destiny Tolbert, and Alyah Williams; and a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.
We will celebrate Bryla’s life at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be observed from 7:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
